Hello there, I’m 思维 [si-way]

Thanks for dropping by! I'm pursuing human-centered design at UW, learning design and research to maximize empathy and avoid subjective solutions. Previously studied digital media + design at NYU, where I learned to analyze tech’s implications on humans from a cultural context.

My design journey began when I channeled my creativity into videography📽, photography📸️, & motion graphics🎨. Practicing storytelling from video-making, I make digital narratives engaging and meaningful to my audience. Since then, I've been exploring all kinds of mediums, with the goal to enhance the human experience.

Discovering my true calling as a product designer allowed me to combine my creativity with problem-solving skills. Breaking down complex, confusing problems to address user pain points is something I find deeply rewarding. I enjoy learning about digital products from the designer's pov and aligning with business goals.

Recent Learnings.

👯 Design is building connection with humans

  • With the users, I design to help them acquire something useful, learn a new point of view, or gain knowledge.
  • With the stakeholders, I build trust by standing in their shoes, and appreciate the diverse perspectives from collaborators.
  • With myself, I discover the "human" side of me. I get excited about new product, inclusive design, emerging technology, and more!
If we move in the direction of making machines which learn and whose behavior is modified by experience, we must face the fact that every degree of independence we give the machine is a degree of possible defiance of our wishes.

🤖️ AI is revolutionary but comes with limitations

  • I enjoy using Gen AI tools (Midjourney, Adobe Firefly...) to create artsy inspirations that expand my imagination.
  • Breaking Stable Diffusion: Gender Bias and Over-sexualization is a blog post I recent wrote, where I critically evaluate Gen AI through a lens that emphasizes its ethical implications for society.
  • AI has been making a paradigm shift in designing for digital products. Learning about UX patterns in AI product can help designers adapt to the fast-evolving nature of emerging technology.
